Privacy Policy

ReptileKitchen LLC
Effective date: September 13, 2026

1. Introduction

This policy explains what reptilenclosures.com collects and what we do with it. The site is operated by ReptileKitchen LLC, the same company that operates reptilekitchen.com. The two sites keep separate accounts and separate databases.

2. What we collect

2.1 If you host

  • Account details from our authentication provider: your email address, name and profile image.
  • Your host profile: display name, ZIP code, bio, species experience and contact email.
  • Your listings: photos, dimensions, species suitability, nightly rate and setup notes.

2.2 If you send a boarding request

  • Account details from our authentication provider: your name, email address and profile image.
  • The species you want boarded, the dates you gave, and the status of the request once the host answers it.

2.3 Messages

  • Everything you write in a conversation, who sent it and when, and whether the message was unread.

Messages are scanned before they are stored, and anything that looks like a phone number, email address or off-platform handle is masked out. That means we do not hold the raw contact details you type into a message — but it also means we hold the rest of what you wrote, and can read it. Treat a message thread as a record kept by us, not as private correspondence. Bios and listing text are checked the same way, but refused rather than masked.

2.4 Payments

Card details are entered directly with Stripe and never reach our servers. We store only what a booking needs: the amount, the dates, the Stripe payment reference and whether it has been paid, released or refunded.

Hosts who take bookings complete Stripe’s identity and bank verification. Stripe collects and holds that information as the account holder; we see only whether the account is able to accept charges and receive payouts.

2.5 If you join the waitlist

  • Your email address, ZIP code, and what you would board.

2.6 Automatically

  • Aggregate traffic analytics (page views, referrers, approximate region). We do not use advertising trackers.
  • Error reports, which may include a request URL and a user ID.

3. How we use it

  • To show listings and let hosts manage them.
  • To pass a boarding request to the host and confirm it to the owner.
  • To review host profiles before listings go public.
  • To email you about the service — a welcome note, and a message if a host near you lists an enclosure after you joined the waitlist.
  • To keep the site working, secure and free of abuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. What we share, and with whom

Sending a boarding request shows that host your account name and what you wrote, and opens a thread they can reply in. It does not hand over your email address, and it does not give you theirs. What each of you can see of the other is a name, a profile image, and whatever you choose to write.

A host’s public listing shows their display name, bio, species experience and the first three digits of their ZIP code as an area label. It never shows their street address or their email address.

We email you to say a message is waiting. Those emails never quote the message itself — you read it on the site.

We also share data with service providers who run parts of the site:

  • Clerk — account sign-in for hosts and owners
  • MongoDB Atlas — database hosting
  • UploadThing — listing photo storage
  • Resend — transactional email
  • Stripe — payments, host payouts and identity verification
  • Vercel — hosting and analytics

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person or an animal.

5. Your choices

  • Access or correction: hosts can edit their profile and listings at any time from the dashboard.
  • Deletion: write to support@reptilekitchen.com and we will delete your profile, listings, requests and waitlist entry. Messages you sent are part of someone else’s conversation too, so we remove your account from a thread rather than erasing what the other person received.
  • Unsubscribe: every non-essential email has an opt-out.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have additional rights of access, correction, deletion and appeal. Write to support@reptilekitchen.com to exercise them.

6. Retention

We keep profiles, listings and message threads until you ask us to remove them. Boarding request records are kept so we can understand how much the service is used, and messages flagged by the contact filter are kept for review; both are deleted on request, subject to the note about other people’s conversations above. Booking and payment records are kept for seven years, because tax and financial rules require it, and are not deleted on request.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers, and access is limited to what operating the site requires. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

The Platform is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to support@reptilekitchen.com and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We will post any revision here and update the effective date. Material changes will be emailed to hosts.
